The music for Lost in Time was created by Michael Holmström, former guitarist in Orbital Decay, and was an embryo of a song that sat on the shelf for many years, before the band picked it up. Jörgen Wimmersjö, the singer who also writes most lyrics for the band, collaborated with Michael on the lyrics of Lost in Time.

As usually with the song creation process at OD all members chipped in and the structure of the song was worked over several times before ending up as the final version. The song was produced by the bands then drummer, Torbjörn Österlind, who also recorded, mixed and mastered it.
